After much research (my wife Karen says that I am OCD when it comes to buying something) I ordered the Crossfire series binoculars for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica.Tried them out on a camping trip this weekend and was absolutely blown away with the clarity. I have the Crossfire10x50s and my wife has the Crossfire 8×42. Both pairs are very solidly built and of excellent quality The low light capabilities was amazing as I was able to spot grazing deer in a distant field one evening that I could not make out with the naked eye. Vortex will be my go to company for optics from now on. You can’t beat the value to dollar in these binoculars period.

Pros – lighter than some large 12 powers, decent resolution (very good for the price), well constructed, extendable eye-cups better than most in operation, nice caseCons – physically longer than other large 12 powers, very sensitive and overly precise focusing, short depth of field to the point that branches of trees swaying in a wind at 300 yards will range in and out of focus, not as bright as 56mm glasses (maybe an unfair criticism but those are the competitors)So, if I was going to use these only in situations in which I’d be stationary and was viewing things that didn’t move and/or moved slowly enough so as to give me time to fiddle with the finicky focus and always had plenty of light, these would be fine. I won’t, so they’re not. I returned them.

For the price, these are really great optics. Clear, light, easy to use. They come with the chest carry harness which is a real bonus. Took them elk hunting in Colorado, what a great buy!

Excellent binoculars. Bought these for a deer hunting trip out west, was so impressed by the clarity and magnification that I still use em hunting back home. Great product. Lifetime warranty. Vortex flat out makes great optics.

For not being the most expensive set of optics on the market these bad boys work great. I bought them for my first spot and stalk elk hunt. During the elk hunt, I had zero issues. I spotted two cows and a bull over a mile away and was able to get within archery range. Since then I have taken them with me on every hunt to include: pheasant hunting in South Dakota, Oklahoma white-tail, Kansas waterfowl, and the cold morning hunts in Wisconsin.

I am new to hunting and wanted an entry level pair of optics and hearing great things about Vortex I gave these a shot and I can’t believe how awesome they are for the price. If you are use tonight end optics costing in the thousands these may not compare but if you are use to ones under $200 I can’t recommend them enough.

Binoculars are really good and a great value. However, the case is a disappointment. First of all, the case looks great and is good quality but this case is only setup to carry on the chest with the body harness. There is no option for belt carry, handle, nor shoulder strap. I bought the 12×50 and the binoculars stick out about an inch above the top of the case. The top flap still closes but not aligned and the elastic closure is almost at its max. It is apparent the case is too small just by looking at it…very tight fit. Great value none the less. Will just have to buy a different case. Case should fit 10×42 or similar size well.
