    I love this reel. I have many baitcasters (Shimano, Okuma, Abu, Daiwa, Kastking, Piscifun, +more) and this is my favorite reel.It’s super smooth, and the DC braking system really works great.If you’re new to baitcasters, you can set this to ‘4’ (most braking) and cast with no thumb and get zero backlash. I use braid, have it set to ‘1’ (lowest braking) and cast with a light thumb and it really flies.And it looks great. Just get it already 😎

    This reel should get a 6th ⭐️! Because of price. I’ve thrown every DC reel Shimano has put out in the past 4 Yrs and the SLX absolutely 100% feels and performs the same. It’s a workhorse, this reel and my Tranx 200 and 400 cover everything point blank. (And I’ve never ocean fished but any one of them you can fish saltwater). Get the speed for how and what you like to fish and a couple SLX or Cadence rods that work for you’re height and application, and you’re fishin with great, extremely reliable gear for what I think are excellent prices. The fish do DO NOT care if you’re holding a 1000$ GLoomis or 100$ SLX rod or Cadence, and all 3 if you’re using the right line, lures, and techniques, are putting fish in the boat, and the guy next to you who spent 1500 on a rod and reel is mad the whole day still if it’s a hot day and you just get skunked. Think people.

    This is a lightweight reel that is powerful and sports a very smooth drag. Most people will be attracted to it’s breaking system that virtually eliminates backlash giving one more time fishing and less time undoing knots. I highly recommend this reel to a beginner but also useful to people wishing to throw light baits on a conventional set up.

    Great reel. Had some hiccups at first. Got it tuned and now I love this reel. You can turn it to 4 and just bomb it and not even put your thumb back on the reel and the dc brakes fight off the back lash with ease.
