    Bought 2 of these for albacore tuna fishing, I was very excited when they arrived but that was short lived. One reel lasted 3 trips before it got rough and then the handle broke. Other one still works but sounds like it’s full of gravel. These reels are junk, and that is me trying to be nice. I use Penn Fierce 2s normally for tuna and they last year’s, only reason I ordered these was I loved the idea of the bait runner feature. I would not recommend these for trout fishing they feel like junk, perform like junk, and will not last

    Would give this reel a 6 star if I could! Smoothest action I have ever had in a reel. Took this real salmon fishing in Alaska. Caught 16 salmon (Silver, chum, pink and a king) weight ranged from 7 – 16 lbs… reel handled like a charm. I bought a BF-55. It holds about 225 yards of 20 lb braided line. The bait feeder is like what every other review says, kind of quiet but you can certainly hear it loud enough to know if a fish is taking the bait. Awesome Reel!!! Will be purchasing another!

    These reels are great for albacore tuna fishing on a bait stop. I was running 30 pound mono but it can be challenging on a running fish. Installing braided line gives so much more capacity for this reel. Love the baitrunner on the reel. It’s like having a lever drag that is only available on bait runner reels.I bought 5 of these reels and they are working great.

    Baitfeeder is way quiet compared to avenger abf40. baitfeeder engagement needs to be checked everytime its engaged, a few times it was switched on the baitfeeder did not engage properly. As for the reel itself, very well built, smooth all the time, good drag, top notch quality from okuma.

    I love this reel, its the in-between reel of all the others, Perfect for pike and walleye, to big for trout, not big enough for musky, would be excellent for bass and 10=12lb. cats. I spooled with 20lb stren.. I have 2 of them. no problems with bait runner at all. I wanted a pike ,walleye, and medium cat reel, went to bass pro shop, never had anything of the size for continuous casting. This is the reel.

    Great bait runner feature. Use for calico bass and yellowtail fishing in California (Catalina). Toss out a Mac earl or sardine towards kelp and let the bait run with the bail closed. Hook up, set hook by turning the handle (circle hooks). Holding up well to lots of hook ups! Have a 35 for smaller calico bass and a bf-65 also for bigger yellowtail and small school size tuna. Really like the smooth action of these reels and Okuma products in general.

    Pleasantly surprised with this reel. I also use Shimano baitrunners for bull redfish in the fall. This Okuma is just as sturdy and is on par with my Shimano at a third of the price. Hopefully it lasts and holds up to big fish for years to come.

    the sizing of this reel is really misleading. this is made for saltwater huge fishing not bass fishing like i mistakenly thought. the reel itself is fantastic. just wrong application. my fault not theirs

    For reel under 100 ,its well worth its price , smooth retrieve and quiet bait running click , fighting drag is strong as well as smooth with very little start up tension. Taking on the water today to try out.

    Bought a Okuma Coronado 55 and returned it 2 days later due to not being a smooth reel. Bought this next day and am happy with the smoothness. Added 15lbs Powerpro Slick 8.
