A Ninja Innovation….a Ninjavation if you will. And fair warning – I’m a Ninja Fan(tm). I use their blender all the time. I use their Foodi air fryer/pressure cooker/serious convergence device all the time. Ninja has never been anything but reliable AND versatile, two things that I prize in my kitchen. BUT….You knew there was a “but” coming. My big issue with the air fryer was in doing up food (steaks, chicken thighs, etc) that would be better off grilled than air-fried. True, I *could* do it, and the results were acceptable, but I always thought there should be a better way. And here we are. This Foodi does it. In spades. In a nutshell, it’s a very well designed and engineered indoor grill with the added benefits of the air frying that I love so much along with baking/roasting functions and dehydration. I’ll hit these in turn but BLUF: this thing is seriously awesome.First let’s talk about the main event: indoor grilling. Ninja executes this exactly perfectly here. It’s not designed to provide square feet of grilling space, but for four hamburgers, two-three steaks (unless it’s my steak, in which case it barely fits one…..yeah, I like steak) or five-six thighs it’s right-sized. In terms of mechanics, it uses the convection system that’s similar to my other Foodi but it works like crazy with the grill application. The grill plate itself is rather heavy (cast iron, I’m thinking) which provides the conduction part of grilling and hence requires six-eight minutes of warm up time before you cook. The warm up gets the grill plate nice and hot, put the food in there, and bang you have grilled food without charcoal, propane, or even going outside. Jerk chicken in the winter is going to be fantastic! One of the first things I made with this (photo attached) is grilled garlic zatar naan. That took about two minutes after warm up to finish up, and the result was fantastic. Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and hard to keep away from other people in the house (I made it….it’s MINE! Make your own). But grilling meats, seafood, etc go just as smoothly. Moreover, while this differs with other indoor grills in that you grill with the lid down, opening up the Foodi to check on things doesn’t set you back very much in terms of heat recovery…it came back up to temp FAST and cooking time wasn’t delayed. Results for meat are fantastic, and yup if you oil the meat (use canola oil to minimize any potential smoke) you get grill marks. This comes with an air-fry basket so while I’m letting my steak rest (you rest your steaks after grilling….right?) it’s trivial to do up a batch of fries right after. Air frying works the same as my other Foodi, with the same results….plenty of space for such things. Making buffalo wings is also a natural – it works. I don’t know what voodoo Ninja uses, but more importantly I DON’T CARE. I push a couple of buttons, it does it’s thing, and I eat well that night.Baking and roasting also work very well. Main thing here is that I always roast meat using the air fry basket, since I want that air circulation all around the meat. If the dimensions are off, a small roasting rack will work in here too. One nit, hardly worth mentioning, is that I always sear a roast before putting it in an oven, and that step is still required with this device. On the plus side, my oven is old school that takes about three hours to heat up whereas the Foodi is ready in about five minutes. It is big enough to handle a medium sized roast so I’m happy.Dehydrating is the (relatively) new feature in the Ninja stable, at least for me, and this works much better for smaller batches than my dedicated dehydrator. A little hacking (you can get small perforated metal trays and line them with plastic mesh from a craft store to stack your food) will increase the amount of food you can dehydrate here. One thing I do for my backpacking meals is cook pasta, dehydrate it, then put it in food saver bags with cheese powder and powdered milk. One cup of boiling water and I have Mac and Cheese in the backcountry.Care is pretty much effortless….the interior pieces (splatter screen, grill plate, fryer basket, and cooking pot) are all dishwasher safe. There’s a grease collector on the back of the device that’s easy to clean as well. This thing is…pretty much perfect. It does have a significant footprint BUT if it’s something that’s going to be used all the time, as I do, the physical size doesn’t really matter. If it’s a useful device (again, versatile and reliable) then counter space allocation is a given. In sum, this Foodi rocks the house. It’s an incredibly valuable addition to my kitchen and even only having it for a short time it’s already become a nearly-indispensable part of my kitchen equipment. It’s fantastic.

Lets gets the bad out of the way…This unit is big and heavy…in a good way, so if you do not have space in your kitchen, this is not for youAir fry bucket is on the small size for some, specially if you are used to a Nuwave with a second levelIs faster than a grill…the only reason I put it here first, is because people will go by time instead of temperature of meat and will blame the unit…This thing IS TRULY smokeless, see my pics, I on purpose marinated the steaks and even added some olive oil to the marinade, why? because my GF wanted to try it that way and it was the hardest smoke test for this, so, if your Idea of a great steak is salt, pepper and maybe garlic…you will also love this unit.2 steaks, about an inch thick for 12 minutes, flipped at the 6min mark…came out Med/Well2 steaks, same size 9 minutes they came out medium…ish (I will give them 8 minutes next timeWITH GRILL Marks!!! and Char flavor! this will not replace your smoker or real charcoal grill…but if you only need 2 steaks (maybe 3) you will have them done, inside and under 15 minutes.I did not try chicken, but just imagine, grill marks and crispy skin if you start skin side down before flips!Remember, this thing is cooking from both sides with a hurricane of hot air. Don’t blame the machine if you go by time only.Cupcakes, small round pan… 5 Minutes…yup, 5 minutes!Cut 4 regular sized potatoes… put them on the basket, about 12 minutes later, I had fries, crispy and delicious…and against the rules, used unfiltered olive oil…again…zero smoke!Cleaning…is “easy” basically like any slow cooker, I see at some point you will have to clean the area where the basket and the pot sits, but is not a big deal, the grill. The splash guard does a great job to keep the heating element clean and at some point I also see using some oven cleaner to clean that…again, no big deal.Overall this is a great unit… while it will not replace my extended ring Nuwave for larger cooking and the Nuwave round open setup, this WILL replace my other inside grill as while both are smokeless, this one sears meat and gives the great char flavor we all look for.

    O. M. G. This thing is awesome. We have a condo where we are not allowed to have grills on our balcony so I thought I’d give this a go. It is perfect. Just made a steak and it was to die for.

I like that it cooks the food fast. T-bones and roasted veggies came out great. I find that I had to turn on the vent fan in kitchen because it smoked a lot, even when cooling off. I have a parrot and you cannot expose them to smoke. I may return it because of that.

This is now my favorite thing in the kitchen. I literally cook here everyday, it is insane. From my morning crispy bacon to homemade fried chicken for dinner. We also already tried fries and grilling burger. I still need to figure out few things on how to use it but I am definitely loving it so far. My only complain is that the grill is kind of hard to clean, the brush that comes with is not really that helpful.

I liked the way it cooked, but if you have 2 or 3 items, you have to figure out what order to cook them because of cooking times. Then whatever you cook first has to sit and wait on other things. I cooked steak, french fries, and corn on the cob. I did fries first, then steak then corn. The cooking area is much smaller than you think after seeing it on TV.

This counter top grill is wonderful! We’ve grilled steaks, chicken, hamburgers, sausage. Tried the air fry function with frozen fries and they came out just like restaurant fries! It is so easy, both to do and clean up afterwards. We’ll probably never grill outside again since it’s just the two of us and this works perfectly for us.

The product works well however it would be so much better if you could control the grilling temperature. It smoked enough to set off my smoke detector. I even had it under my hood fan. Also it came in a package that was soaking wet on one end so the packaging was all pulled apart. See picture.Disappointed Amazon would send it in that conditionAlso came without notice so glad I was home
