The Leeward 50 QT Cooler from Igloo was designed with rugged construction and sturdy features.
This ice chest was made with extra-thick Ultratherm insulation in the body and lid to keep ice from melting for up to 4 days at 90ºF.
The unique, oversized latches lock in the cold while securing the lid.
Rubberized grips provide premium touch points on the ergonomic handles to prevent slipping.
Body brackets add corner protection and durability, while the 2 tie-down points allow for a more secure transportation of the cooler.
It features an FDA approved food-grade liner and a food-grade silicone rubber lid gasket. Also, a fish ruler, cutting board, locking lid, wire basket, and a fast/slow dual drain release plug were added for extra convenience.
Weighing only 20.57 lbs. with exterior measurements of 27.8” L x 14.6” W x 15.0” H, the Leeward Cooler from Igloo is perfect for any tailgate party, camping adventure, or fishing getaway.
Whether you gift this cooler to a loved one or you’re treating yourself, you’ll find that it was engineered for sturdiness and performance to stand up to tough conditions.

I bought this Igloo cooler because of the brand name and the success I have seen with their other products. We were going to Lake Havasu on vacation and it was going to be really hot so I wanted a nice cooler that was padded and wouldn’t beat up out boat but had great ice retention. This cooler failed to perform on our trip but hey, it’s Havasu and smoking hot so maybe not a realistic test. My wife had a work party at our house last week and it was 80 degrees in the sun. I put this ice chest and rolled over my Tommy Bahama teak chest under the partial shade of the eve of the house. I loaded both coolers at the same time of day 12:30 and topped the Igloo with ice. The Tommy Bahama I only added one and half bags of ice (30lbs approx.) The next morning at 10:00 am I went out to clean up and put away the coolers. The picture on the left (sodas/water) is the Igloo and the other is my TB Chest cooler when I opened the lids. Igloo states that this cooler is good for 4 day ice retention at 90 degrees. In under 12 hours, half of that at night, there was not a spec of ice left. I don’t normally write reviews but in this case for $180.00 I think Igloo really misrepresented their product. Unfortunately for me it is too late to get my money back so now I have a very expensive, heavy, $25.00 ice chest. Epic fail IGLOO! At least the Tommy Bahama kept the beer cold.

The capacity is good, the basket feature could be nice for food on fishing trips. It doesn’t hold ice any better than the 10+ year old cube cooler we had that was falling apart. I wouldn’t rate this any better than a plain $50 cooler. Don’t spend the money if you are looking for something to hold ice for more than a day.

I had been looking for a new & better cooler but was unwillingly to pay $400-500 for an item not used daily. I wanted a dry food basket, solid temperature maintenance and a weight that (as a middle aged woman) I could easily handle. This item has fit all of those requests. The locks are solid & handles are comfortable. See photo – the box did arrive with minor damage, but there was no effect on the cooler. I am very happy with this purchase.
