Just exactly the tool I’ve always wanted for this purpose, and without the clumsiness of power cords. I’ve burned out three or four traditional corded hammer drills in the past, really good ones from Ryobi, Milwaukee and Craftsman. They fried themselves after taking hours to drill relatively few holes in concrete, even with careful use. This DeWalt SDS tool is just what the drill doctor ordered. Even though its a big investment, I’d recommend getting the SDS Plus Dust Extractor that goes with this. No mess, no mask/respirators, no waiting, and no cords. You just get holes. The combo makes you want to find some brick/concrete just to keep drilling to see if it’s real or if you’re dreaming, even if you don’t need anymore holes. Shop around. The pricing on this one is a real investment if you’re not a professional in construction. But even if you want a long term “keeper” for those projects around the house, might as well just go for it.

After drilling the first hole (2″ deep with 3/16 bit), which only took about 3 seconds into brick for a tapcon, I knew this thing was worth every penny! I only had regular dewalt hammer drill before this and the difference is night and day especially when drilling into something as hard as brick. I used my 6AH flexvolt battery to start and it lasted for so long that i have no clue how many holes i drilled with it.

The most rugged tool by dewalt by far. I’ve used mine for 4 months now and absolutely love it! It takes a beating and more. Works great for the glazier trade. also bought another for my dad for his birthday and he loves it.

This thing is a beast for its size. I use it to knock holes in walls to put in sleeves for conduit and wires. It’s small and easy to get in ceilings I would recommend.

Very strong, smooth operating, and fast. Will certainly drain a flexvolt 60v battery, but that’s to be expected sinking holes in a concrete slab.Only feature with this tool I dislike is the lack of power in the chipping hammer/jackhammer setting. Even after drilling out the perimeter and inside with the drill bits this thing still takes forever to chisel away concrete. Understandably, it’s battery powered so that’s somewhat to be expected…it’s still a bummer.

this bubba is a beast , and it does in fact accept the 60 volt battery , it makes easy work of old concrete which is the litmus test for a hammer drill

I love the new brushless model. I had the previous 20v model and lasted me three years of heavy use. When that one got tired and worn out I needed a replacement so I got this one. I love all their brushless tools. This new brushless model has all the same features as the older one with more improvements. I like that it has a belt clip on for working off a ladder. The 20v hammerdrill is nice for quick jobs, saves time running cords around and finding the next nearest outlet. Will definitely buy this again when the time comes and I recommend this hammerdrill to anyone looking for a small compact, yet powerful drill

This thing drilled through my block wall like a hot knife on butter. I went too fast and ended up knocking out more stucco than I had anticipated. I should have drilled from the stucco side in, but I wasn’t expecting how fast this rotary drill would work. I was expecting the results of a normal hammer drill and didn’t realize the differences between a normal hammer drill and a rotary hammer drill.

This is my new favorite tool.I’ve mostly been using it to chip frozen ground (though the bit I was using wasn’t the greatest), and it did that job very well. Considering all the attachments you can use on this, it really is built for almost any job.I was also breaking up larger pieces of concrete so I could transport them. And due to the brushless nature of this, the battery lasts way longer than it should.

I gave up when using my regular hammer drill to drill through the basement wall 11 inches. My both arms was hurt from shaking a lot. Got this rotary hammer drill in and it took me less than 7 minutes to drill 1 inch hole to other side of the basement wall. My right arm is wonderfull. Just feel like you drill thru wood. Really nice job dewalt.

What a difference between the rotary hammer and a hammer drill: years ago when I renovated my condo (concrete structure), I got complaint from the tenant upstairs saying the drilling noise using a hammer drill, it was slow and ineffective. I renovated the condo again this year, this rotary hammer + Bosch sds masonry bits drill concretes holes very fast. I done the work without getting any complaints from nearby neighbors. Good investment.

This is my first rotary hammer drill, so i dont have too many other tools to compare to. I used a standard hammer drill before. Some big difference you will notice is the smoothness of operation and the lower noise. This drill feels like it has a suspension system inside, so doesn’t hurt your arms. I also like that it is portable, dont have to worry about bringing power cables to job sites, especially if its outdoors. In terms of drilling, i would say there is a noticeable difference in speed compared to standard hammer drill. Also do not need to push as hard, this will drill under its own weight.

Performance matches easily that of the Hilti brand! Spend a few dollars more when thinking about buying a hammer drill… worth every penny! What’s more, the jack hammer mode is seriously effective to a point of impressive from not a bulky tool. The quality, feel, handling and performance of this tool makes it one of my best purchases. Good job Dewalt!
