The reel looked great out of the box but as soon as I put it on my rod and tried it I discovered that it didn’t always engage after the cast. The spool release (button u push to cast) would stay stuck in the cast position until I pressed it again and got it to pop free. I was disappointed as it looked like a nice musky reel. Sent it back and 2 weeks later I got my $ back. Not a great experience.

Smooth action, holds a regular spool of 20 or 30 braid. Will use in salt water with a med/hvy ugly stick for fluke and sea bass.

Using this reel for flounder Fishing the wrecks and reefs off NJ. With 7.1 gear ratio Fishing deep water is a breeze. Takes up line very quickly. Small so it fits in the palm of your hand. And with 22lbs of drag. Great little reel.

  4. MONTE EHRLICH

It was a gift to my 3 boys to be used for saltwater fishing for bass at Catalina island. These reels are the best for quick action on the water.

Only 4 stars because I haven’t used it in the salt yet… Quality seems good as is with most Daiwa products.
